about

I began writing this song in the midst of a of depressive episode. I was feeling deeply haunted by thoughts of inadequacy. I feared that I could not live up to the expectations I had for myself, that I was not a good friend, that I was a selfish person, that I was not worthy of understanding, forgiveness and, most of all love. I just wanted to run away, I wanted to drive off onto some unknown road and just explode. I wanted to be forgotten. I realized these thoughts were cruel and unjustified. My mindset changed, and I began to recover from these intrusive feelings. Then the song began to change, the chords progressions became upbeat, the synth palates became brighter, but I decided to not alter the lyrics. I felt that even though the darkness had passed, its still always in me, and that's ok, accepting the lyrics is akin to me accepting myself, darkness and all. Thanks for listening
